Motherhood - it's not what we expected it to be!
See the woman on the right in the photo - the one with the boy on her shoulders? That's me. Working from home, with my then 4-year-old (now 10) 'helping' me.
Motherhood can be different to what we expected. We have challenges that we did not see coming. These challenges can bring us down, we can become anxious, confused, overwhelmed and we can lose our sense of self.
Often we have so many roles to fulfil. We carry the burdens of our family, our friends, our work colleagues and others. It is easy to feel like no matter what we do, we can't keep up, or we just aren't doing a good enough job. We try to juggle being a great Mum, a loving girlfriend or wife, a caring daughter, a hardworking employee, a volunteer, a loyal friend and more.
Trying to do so much can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, fear of failure, overwhelm or we can simply feel lost, confused, undervalued or unseen. We often try to be everything to everyone, and lose ourselves in the process. These feelings can contribute to poor mental health.
However, there are many things we can do to help lighten our load - delegate, prioritise, gain a new perspective of ourselves, reach out to others for help, let go of our high expectations and more.
If you would like help to gain balance back in your life, deal with personal issues, find your purpose (especially if you have been out of the workforce for a while) or support in another area, please be sure to make an appointment with me today.
You can become the joyful woman God intended you to be. You can thrive!
"Our generation is becoming so busy trying to prove that women can do what men can do that women are losing their uniqueness. Women weren’t created to do everything a man can do. Women were created to do everything a man can’t do"
