WHAT IS THE NDIS?
NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

  • National: The NDIS is being introduced progressively across all states and territories.
  • Disability: The NDIS provides support to eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability. Early intervention supports can also be provided for eligible people with disability or children with developmental delay.
  • Insurance: The NDIS gives all Australians peace of mind if they, their child or loved one is born with or acquires a permanent and significant disability, they will get the support they need.
  • Scheme: The NDIS is not a welfare system. The NDIS is designed to help people get the support they need so their skills and independence improve over time.

NDIS is a scheme that operates in a way that is different to the traditional way services are provided. Under the NDIS, the funds are given to the person who is in direct need of support, rather than the organisation who is providing it. This is wonderful as it allows you to choose the support you need and who you would like to provide you that support

We offer services in several areas covered by NDIS funding. I you have funding, please be sure to dicuss this with us. If you do not have funding, but have a severe and persistent physical or psychosocial disability, or mental illness, you might be eligible for NDIS. Please visit the NDIS website for further details.

(A psychosocial disability means that a person's mental health issue has had a significant and ongoing impact on your life, to the extent that it impairs your ability to do everyday things and participate in the community.  Once your eligibility is confirmed, this funding is available to you, for your lifetime)

I established Lighthouse Family Support to empower, inspire & uplift women on the NSW Central Coast. I have a passion for supporting women who work so hard to support their families.

I provide a non-judgmental environment, operating from Christian values, and work with a strengths based and solutions-focused approach.

I believe that regardless of past or present circumstances, given the right support, everyone has the capacity to thrive. - Michele
